Winifred Boren

Mrs. Winifred R. (Harrell) Boren, passed to be with our Lord, on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the River Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kerrville. Mrs. Boren, "Winnie", as known by family and friends, was age 94. She was born on February 7, 1921, to Billington Chapley Harrell and Roxana Jane Jones Harrell of Yancey, Texas.

Mrs. Boren, until she became very ill, was a devoted member of the Riverside Church of Christ, in Kerrville, and prior to that in Dallas and Oklahoma City, where she resided with her late husband, Paul G. Boren, M.D., (retiree of the VA Hospital, Kerrville), who preceded her in death, January 14, 2014. During her life, Mrs. Boren taught Sunday school, attended Ladies Bible Study. She was loved by her extended church family, as well as her family and long-time friends.

She was the youngest of seven children, all who preceded her in death, most recently, Mildred Harrell Rowland, age 96 of San Antonio, Texas. She also lost her daughter-in-law and mother of her grandchildren, Linda Bacus Boren, in June 2002, who shared in her life for 32 years.

Those left to honor her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Clifford and Carol Boren of Kerrville, Texas; granddaughter and spouse, Melissa and Jason Tipton of Merkel, Texas; 10-year-old great-grandson, Ryder Lee Tipton of Merkel, Texas; grandson, Jeffrey Paul Boren of Kerrville, Texas. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Boren was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

Visitation and a time of reflection will be from 5 - 7 PM, Monday, August 31, 2015, at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, Texas 78028. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, September 1, 2015, in the sanctuary of Riverside Church of Christ, 625 Harper Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028, officiated by Jacob Hawk. Interment to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, Texas, alongside her late husband, Paul G. Boren, M.D.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family has expressed a desire for memorial contributions to be made in her honor to the Riverside Church of Christ Building Fund, 625 Harper Road, Kerrville, Texas 78028.
