Kerrville William Morrell Small, Junior, 77, peacefully passed from his home and into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, 3 June 2009 where he joined his recently departed and beloved wife Shirley Ann Small.
Erie Pennsylvania was his birthplace in 1931 to the proud parents of William Morrell Small, Senior and Ruth Myrtle Smith. At 22 he began twenty nine and a half years of distinguished duty Army service to the country he loved with assignments in overseas conflicts and many installations in North America and Europe.
Even while executing the formidable demands ands sacrifices associated with military duty it was his love of family that made him an outstanding husband, father and friend. His generous and caring nature meant that he willingly sacrificed to fulfill the needs of family and friends as he placed his loved ones ahead of himself.
His cherished memory lives in surviving family of one sister, three sons, seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and the extended family of his recently departed wife Shirley. Sister Shirley Derrow and husband Phil of Baltimore, MD. Sons William H. Small Sr. and wife Reita of Tucson, AZ, James Small and wife Marilou of Sandy, UT, and Jeff Small and wife Rhonda from Colorado Springs, CO. Grandson William H. Small Jr. and his wife Megan of Tucson, AZ, granddaughter Rebecca Small of Tucson, AZ, grandson Sean Small of Tucson, AZ, grandson Michael Vetti of Phoenix, AZ, granddaughter Amy Scorsoni of Midvale, UT, granddaughter Brenda Gundry of Chandler, AZ, and grandson Mark Small of Sandy, UT. Great grandson Jaxston and great grand daughter Kayla of Midvale, UT, Daughterinlaw Barbara Ryan and her husband Joe of Rochester, MN.
William also had the unique honor of marrying three exceptional women. He loved and survived Shirley Ann Gautsch, Joy Arlene Agee, and Theresa Tomczski.
In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations be made to the Kerrville VFW Post, Kerrville, TX.
There will be no visitation.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, June 8, 2009 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Chaplain Sam Ligon officiating. Interment will be held at 1:15 PM, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
