William David Van Hoozer was born on April 7, 1946. He passed away on March 28, 2010. A lifetime rancher, David enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed living on the ranch where he was raised, watching deer in the evening, working with cattle and sitting on the porch with his dog, Dolly.
A carpenter by trade, Davids creativity came through in the things that he built. He enjoyed building homes with unique rockwork or specialized structures for homes and events. His abilities extended to drawings and etchings done with great accuracy and detail.
Those who met David were entertained by his wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed laughter, practical jokes, and making people feel comfortable and welcome.
David is survived by three children, daughter, Bonnie Harker and her husband Steven of La Vernia son, Kyle Van Hoozer of San Antonio and daughter, Amanda Van Hoozer of Austin. His two grandchildren, Riley, six, and Grace, two, were the light and joy of his life.
David is also survived by three sisters, Doris Herring and her husband John Mae Katherine Jones Mary Murayama and her husband Calvin and one brother, Johnny Van Hoozer all of Kerrville. He was blessed with many nieces and nephews and their children.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Raymond Van Hoozer and Dorothy Mae Nixon Van Hoozer and his brother Calvin Van Hoozer.
Services will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. John Petty officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to VISTACARE. The family is grateful for their care and support.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Rebecca Barrington and all the staff at Cancer Care Center of South Texas for their commitment to Davids quality of life and for giving us all more time.
