William Bill Hanzel, 79, of Kerrville, Texas died peacefully on April 23, 2005 at his residence after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.Bill was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania on July 28, 1925 to Stephen and Helen Hanzel. He proudly served his country as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in both World War II and Korea. Bill held a chemical engineering degree from Illinois Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago. He was a plant manager for Nalco Chemical in Freeport, Texas for 38 years. He is survived by his wife, Mary mother, Helen Hanzel of Schaumburg, Illinois sister, Joanne Winker and husband Fred of Schaumburg, Illinois daughter, Karen Cox and husband Carl of Cape Coral, Florida son Wayne Hanzel and wife Pam of wood, Texas son, Kevin Hanzel and wife Debbie of Spring, Texas, son, David Hanzel and wife Jennifer of San Marcos, Texas, stepson, Jim Butcher and wife Karen of Sugar Land, Texas eight grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, and his special adopted daughter, Beckie Brown.Funeral services will be 2:30PM, Monday, April 25, 2005 at the Kerrville Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Turtle Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Butcher, Carl Cox, Wayne Hanzel, Kevin Hanzel, David Hanzel, and Fred Winker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tom Bullard, James Crider, Peter Pohl, Michael Reyes, and Derek Winker.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you please send your donation to support the American Cancer Society, Vistacare Hospice, or the Turtle Creek Community Church.
