William Hague


San Antonio William Wilberforce Hague, Jr. was born in Pittsburgh, PA on November 24, 1922. He passed away on October 9, 2010 in San Antonio, TX.

Bill, as he was affectionately known, graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA, the town where he met Alice.

He served in the Army Air Corps during the Second World War and afterward remained in the reserves for 35 years retiring as a colonel.

He also obtained a chemical engineering degree from Carnegie Melon University. Over the years Bill was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, American Legion, an Elder of the Presbyterian Church, and, when he resided in Florida, a member of the Kiwanis Club.

In later life Bill and Alice moved to Kerrville, TX to be with their daughter Elizabeth and granddaughter Alyssa. Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will always be remembered for the innumerable ways that he provided, loved, and cared for his family.

He was preceded in death by two children Geoffrey Burns Hague and William Wilberforce Hague, III.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Alice Louise Burns formerly of Washington, PA, and of San Antonio two children, Dr. John R Hague Patricia of Richmond, VA and Elizabeth Ann Ball Scott of Kerrville, TX and six grandchildren, Karen Louise Grosh Harold and Dana Lynn Hague both of Richmond, VA , Julia Faith Ladd Mitchell of WinstonSalem, NC, Alyssa Paige Lee of Kerrville, TX, and Alexis and Whitney Ball of San Antonio, TX.

There will be no visitation.

Services will be held in the chapel at Fort Sam Houston, on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, at a time that will be announced in Wednesdays edition of the Kerrville Daily Times.

The family suggests that donations in Bills name be made to the Samaritans Purse.
