William Daugherty

INGRAM William Bill Leslie Daugherty, 69, passed from this life peacefully and surrounded by family at his Ingram home on Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Bill was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa to Willard Joseph and Alice Vivian June Daugherty on December 14, 1944.

After high school, he joined the United States Navy and served 3 tours with the 3rd fleet marines in Vietnam. After his time served in the Navy he returned to his home town of Dubuque, Iowa. He later retired from the United States Postal Service in Dubuque after 27 years of faithful service. After retirement, he settled in Ingram and even sold his snow shovel along the way.

Bill was a devoted and loving spouse, father and friend. He bravely and selflessly gave of himself for our country. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to others and put the needs of others before his own and of course the smile was always included.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Barbara Ann Mootz Daugherty.

Those left to honor and cherish Bills memory are his loving wife, Linda Harmon Daugherty of Ingram, Texas daughter, Tara Elmegreen and husband Von of Oklahoma son, Sean Daugherty and wife Tina of Iowa son, Ian Daugherty and wife Layna of Texas as well as 3 granddaughters, along with many extended family members and life time friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Dietert Center, 451 Guadalupe Street, Kerrville, Texas 78028 at 4 PM on Friday, March 7, 2014 with Chaplain Claude Brown officiating.

Memorial Contributions may be forwarded to the Dietert Center of Kerrville or to a Veterans Organization of your choice in Bills Honor.
