Wilburn Leo Boudreaux, 83, passed from this life on Thursday, May 2, 2019. He was born August 20, 1935 in Alexandria, Louisiana to parents Lawrence Luke and Nova Lucille (Powell) Boudreaux.
Leo grew up in rural Elmer, Rapides Parrish, LA and was the eldest of four boys. After graduating from Oak Hill High School, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for more than 30 years, retiring at the highest enlisted rank of Chief Master Sergeant. While in the service he earned a B.A. at Regis University. He continued serving his country for 12 additional years in the Civil Service before retiring a second time so that he and Donna could enjoy the warm Gulf breezes of Venice, FL.
A visit to Texas in 2006 brought them to Kerrville. They fell in love and purchased a house making Kerrville their permanent home. Leo and Donna were long time square dancers and continued that passion in Kerrville.
Leo was proud when he graduated from the Kerrville Police Department Citizen Police Academy. He was also an avid genealogist tracing his family tree back to the Acadian Expulsion (1755-1764). Through his passion for genealogy, Leo's lineage allowed him to join the Sons of the Revolutionary War and Sons of Confederate Veterans of the Civil War. Leo enjoyed meeting new people and hearing their stories, he also loved gumbo and puppies.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Nova Boudreaux and sons, Jerry Leo Boudreaux; Donald Roy Boudreaux and Steven Ray Boudreaux.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna June; daughter, Linda (David) LaBrot of Humble, TX; son, Lawrence (Toon) Boudreaux of Sam Roi Yot, Thailand; daughter-in-law, Darlene Boudreaux of Beebe, AR ; his brothers, Wallace (Dorothy) Boudreaux of Melbourne, FL; Donald (Floretta) Boudreaux of Alexandria, LA; Roy Boudreaux ( Jessica Mangum) of Kerrville, TX and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends and acquaintances.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM on Monday, May 6, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Kerrville, 625 Washington St. Kerrville, TX 78028. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Donna has asked that donations be made in Leo's name to the Hill Country Crisis Council at www.hccares.com.
