Weldon Asbury Tyler, 86, of Kerrville, passed on Saturday, November 16, 2013 in Kerrville.
Mr. Tyler was born on May 27, 1927, in the community of Ewell on Smith Island, Maryland to Carlos and Flora Marie Tyler. Weldon grew up in the crab fishing community of Smith Island until joining the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he married his beloved Henrietta in San Antonio, who passed away this September after 67 years of marriage. The couple moved to Smith Island where they joined the family fishing business. They moved to San Antonio in 1955 where Weldon worked and retired from the U.S. Post Office. Weldon and Henrietta travelled the USA and parts of Canada for the next 20 years in their beautiful motor homes. They kept a home in Ingram and spent summers in Montrose, Colorado.
Weldon was preceded in death by Henrietta his infant sister, Frances Marie parents, Carlos Jones Tyler and Flora Marie Tyler and his beloved niece, Barbara Lucas Spillar.
He is survived by his sisterinlaws, Maureen Lucas of Helotes, and Betty Currie of San Antonio, and brotherinlaw, Maury Joseph Heiman, III of Devine nieces and nephews, who he considered his own children, Elizabeth Guillory of Helotes, Linda Calame of Devine, Beverly Pichardo of San Antonio, Tina Horvath of Pipe Creek, Helen Gutz of New Braunfels, and Maury J. Heiman, IV of Devine.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy. with Rev. Ray Tear officiating. A reception will follow at Kerrville Funeral Home.
