Wanda L. Beaver
November 24, 1929 to September 21, 2023
Former Hunt, Texas resident, Wanda L. Beaver died peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, September 21, 2023. She is preceded in death by her husband, Daniel G. Beaver; her parents, Edward and Lottie Nichols; five sisters and four brothers. She is survived by daughter, Martha (Jerry) Cummings of Spring, Texas; step-daughter, Janie Beaver Thomas of Lometa, Texas; granddaughter, Sarah (Troy) Bernardo of Spring, Texas; grandson, Daniel Cummings of Spring, Texas; two great-grandchildren; brother, Douglas Nichols of Royse City, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
Wanda worked for Western Union after graduating high school and then entered the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. After serving four years, she attended Odessa College then transferred to Sul Ross State University where she met the love of her life. Transferring to the University of Texas in Austin and Texas Tech, she completed her Education degree at SRSU. She and Dan taught for several schools in west Texas before settling in Georgetown, Texas where she taught elementary school at Hutto and Pflugerville. Wanda and Dan moved to Hunt and she commuted to Rock Springs where she retired from teaching after 34 years in education.
Wanda continued to live in Hunt volunteering at Mo-Ranch, Hill Country Youth Ranch Resale Shop, and her church. Wanting to be closer to her family, Wanda returned to Georgetown before moving to Spring. She served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder at First Presbyterian of Georgetown, Ingram Presbyterian, and First Presbyterian of Tomball and was active in her faith until her death.
Wanda loved playing games with everyone, especially her grandchildren and took any opportunity to read with children. She loved her family, her country, and God. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A Graveside Service will be held at Garden of Memories in Kerrville on September 30th at 10a.m. and a Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian of Tomball on October 7th at 10a.m.
