Kerrville Walter A. Williams, 88, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a Kerrville health care facility on November 14, 2011.
Born in Miles, TX on July 2, 1923, he was the son of A.E. and Birdie White Williams. He had been a resident of Kerrville for the past five years, coming here from El Paso, where he had been a resident for many years.
Mr. Williams was a Private, First Class, in the US Marine Corps from 19421945, and participated in the capture of Guadalcanal.
For almost 50 years, he was a barber in El Paso.
He enjoyed horse racing and was an avid handicapper of horses.
A loving husband and father, Mr. Williams enjoyed spending time with family and especially loved going to Las Vegas with his wife and daughter.
He is predeceased by his wife, Roberta Mildred Zeigler Williams in 2000, his parents his soninlaw, Ray Barnes in August of 2011 and a brother, Arthur Williams.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughter, Karen Barnes of Ingram, TX four sons, David Williams, Steve Williams and Walter Williams all of El Paso, TX and John Williams of Irving, TX 6 grandchildren 3 great grandchildren 2 brothers, Jeff Williams and Howard Williams, both of San Anronio, TX and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at Hilltop Village Chapel, 1400 Hilltop Circle on Monday, November 28, 2011at 10:30AM.
A celebration of his life will also be held in El Paso at a later date, where he will be inurned at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with his wife.
The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Salvation Army.
