Kerrville Vivian Pauline Anderson Lane, 92, passed away in Kerrville, Texas on October 15, 2003 at a local care center.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspVivian was born to Laura Hougan and Carl August Anderson in Mitchell, South Dakota, on February 5, 1911. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University and South Dakota State University. She earned a teaching certificate and taught for several years in Pukwana, Chamberlain, and Deadwood, South Dakota. On June 9, 1943, she married Girdon William Lane of Chamberlain, South Dakota, in San Francisco, California. They were married for 57 years before his death in March 2000. Before she was married, she lived in Kimball, Chamberlain and Pukwana, South Dakota. She moved to Long Beach, California during World War II and worked in a large shipyard. After her marriage she lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Des Moines, Iowa, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, before moving to Kerrville in 1980. Vivian had one sister, Ruth Anderson, who preceded her in death.Vivian is survived by three children, Robert A. and wife, Jacklyn, of Houston, Texas, David G. and wife, Mary Beth, of McLean, Virginia, Janet R. Lane, of Prospect Heights, Illinois, and one grandchild, Kristi E. Lane, of Atlanta, Georgia.nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspVivian loved to write about growing up in South Dakota. She was the author of Growing Up Dakota Style, Grandmas Story, a series of articles that appeared in the Chamberlain Register from October 1996 through January 1997.Funeral Services will be held at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, October 18, 2003 at 2 PM, with Pastor David Chancellor of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Family visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, October 17, 2003 from 6 8 PM. Additional Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Pukwana Lutheran Church in Pukwana, South Dakota with Interment at the Swedish Lutheran Cemetery in Ola, South Dakota.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Pukwana Lutheran Church in Pukwana, South Dakota, Zion Lutheran Church of Kerrville, Texas, or the National Parkinsons Foundation.Arrangements are under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home.
