Virginia Gordon

Virginia Ruth Ginger Gordon, age 86, beloved mother and grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 2013. She spent her last days surrounded by her four children.

Ginger was born on November 1, 1926 in East St. Louis, Illinois, to parents Maurice and Viola Joseph.
She graduated from New Athens High School in New Athens, Illinois in 1944 and soon after moved to St. Louis with a friend to work as a secretary. She was a secretary at Essex Manufacturing in St. Louis when friends introduced her to Dale Gordon, whom she married in 1951. She and Dale raised their family in St. Louis, Missouri and Collierville, Tennessee, before retiring to Kerrville, Texas in 1985. They were married for 46 years until Dales death in 1997.

Ginger and Dale loved long road trips and spending time with family. They were active in the Baptist church and Ginger, who loved babies and young children, spent many a Sunday morning working in the church nursery. She was a very caring friend, always willing to do what she could to help others.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents Maurice and Viola Joseph, brother Robert Joseph, sisterinlaw and brotherinlaw, Ruth and Gerald Wikle.

She is survived by her children, Jill Gordon and husband Gary Earlywine of St. Charles, Missouri, Janet Lenox and husband Thomas of Canton, Ohio, Dale J. Gordon and wife Charlotte Bushroe of Frederick, Maryland, Joan Foust and husband Ken of Kerrville, Texas grandchildren Matthew and Eric Earlywine, Justin Lenox and wife Holly, Ryan Lenox, Zachary and Kenzie Foust. Other survivors include her aunt, Ruth Schaller of New Athens, Illinois, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice, 1121 Broadway Kerrville, Texas 78028.

A memorial service will be held on January 26, 2013 at 2PM at Kerrville Funeral Home.
