Vernon Lathrop Wesby, 94, passed from this life on Thursday, November 25, 2004 at his home in Kerrville, Texas. He was born June 14, 1910 in Chicago, IL.A former resident of Chicago, Mr. Wesby was a loyal 35 year employee of the ElectroMotive Division of General Motors as the Superintendent of Utilities. He married the late Marie C. Wesby on October 31, 1964 in Chicago, IL.He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and while traveling throughout Alaska and Canada produced films from these adventures. Mr.Wesby, also an avid nature photographer has been widely published in numerous wildlife and Botanical publications.Relocating to Kerrville in 1979, Mr. Wesby became active in numerous community activities. A founding member of the Riverside Nature Center, Past President of the Native Plant Society of Texas, the San Antonio Cactus and Xerotype Society, the Hill Country Camera Club, the Kerr County Cactus and Succulent Society, the Botanical Research Institute of Texas BRIT and in Chicago was a member of the Adventurers Club, Chicago Field Museum of Natural History and the Morton Arboretum.He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Wesby the mother of his children, Florence E. Wesby who passed from this life on November 10, 1987 wife, Marie C. Wesby daughter, Rosemary Ritchell brothers, John and Charles Wesby.He is survived by his son, Thomas Wesby of Mesa, AZ daughter, Linda Milano of Scottsdale, AZ sisters, Dorothy Sweet of Clio, MI, and Lenore Swanson of La Grange, IL. grandchildren, Jeff Wesby, Steve Wesby, Ray Milano, Debra Milano, Michael Mathews, Mark Mathews, and Cheryl Mathews 12 greatgrandchildren, 6 greatgreatgrandchildren and a host of many loving friends.
