Kerrville Mrs. Vera E. Hertel, 88, of Kerrville, passed from this life at a local Kerrville health care facility on January 31, 2012.
Born in Pecan Creek, Gillespie County, TX on January 15, 1924, she was the daughter of Richard and Frieda Friedrich Neffendorf.
A woman of great faith, she loved to cook for her family and friends for any occasion. She found this time to be a gracious entertainer and hostess. With these meals came her great sense of fun and her wittiness.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God in Kerrville and was a Sunday school secretary for 25 years. She was also involved in the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade, as well as serving on the Womens Ministries Committee.
She is predeceased by her husband, Elmer N. Hertel her parents, 1 sister and 2 brothers.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her children, Norma Hertel of Kerrville, Nolan Hertel and his wife, Jennifer of Norcross, GA and Karlene Hertel of Overland Park, KS 3 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren 3 sisters, Laura Gerloff of Kerrville, Bernice Dryden of Fredericksburg and Louise Smith of Kerrville her 4 brothers, Felix Neffendorf of Fredericksburg, Richard Neffendorf of Fredericksburg, James Neffendorf of Fredericksburg and Lee Neffendorf of Beaumont, TX and many nieces, nephews and friends.
ation will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Thursday, February 2, 2012 from 57PM.
A celebration of her life will be held at Kerrville Funeral Home on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 1PM with WN Perkins, pastor of the First Assembly of God, officiating. Committal services will follow at the family cemetery, Friedrich Cemetery, Fredericksburg, TX.
The family suggests that donations in her name be made to the Boys and Girls Missionary Crusade of the First Assembly of God or the Latin American Childcare, co The First Assembly of God Church.
