San Antonio Venetia Jean McBurnett 79, formerly of Kerrville, passed away at her sons house in San Antonio on March 29, 2010
Born in Brown County on May 9, 1930, to Joseph T. and Flora B. Edwards Head, she married James R. McBurnett on August 27, 1949, in Brownwood.
During JamesAir Force career as a chief master sergeant, the couple and their two sons and one daughter lived in San Antonio and in Japan before he retired at Dyess AFB in Abilene. Afterward, they lived in Austin, Waco and Shreveport, La., before settling in Kerrville in 1984.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are daughter Kimberly and her husband, Stephen Oakey of La Mesa, CA, two sons, David and wife Lisa McBurnett of San Antonio and Michael and wife Rosa McBurnett of San Antonio seven grandchildren, Samantha McBurnett, Emily McBurnett, Nicholas McBurnett, Amy McBurnett, Stephanie McBurnett, Charles Oakey, Robin Oakey and two great grandchildren Aidan Oakey and Rhiannon Oakey. Also, two brothers, Leon Head of Yuma, AZ, and Manley J. Head of Wylie.
A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 7, at Porter Loring Mortuary, North 2102 North Loop 1604 East in San Antonio, with Rev. Joe Walts officiating. Phone 2104958221.
The family suggests that memorials be made to the Texas Lions Camp or the Humane Society.
