Tom York

KERRVILLE - Tom Gordon York, 72, of Ingram, Texas passed from this life on April 12, 2015 at a local care facility in Kerrville. Tom was born March 22, 1943 in Corpus Christi, Texas to James Martin York Jr. and Letha Montgomery York.

Tom grew up in Calallen, TX where he played football and graduated from high school in 1961. After graduation, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force where served his country for three years. On January 24, 1969, he married the love of his life Elissa L. Stone.

Tom began working for DuPont in 1979 in Corpus Christi, TX and was transferred to Niagara Falls, NY in 1987. After his division in Niagara Falls was sold to Olin in the 90's, Tom retired from DuPont and continued working at Olin upon his retirement from there in 2005.

Tom loved to volunteer for the Ingleside Mustang Band. He was a leader in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and 4-H. Tom was also an active member at St. Peter's Episcopal Church and enjoyed being involved in the Cursillo.

He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Letha York.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Elissa York of Ingram, TX; son, Tom York Jr. and wife Pamela of San Antonio, TX; grandsons, Tom G. York III and Ryan James York of San Antonio, TX; brothers, James Martin York III of Darien Center, NV and Emmett L. York of Three Rivers, TX; sister, Janice York of Orange Grove, TX; mother-in- law, Betty Jo Stone of San Antonio, TX, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1 PM April 15, 2015 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, at the corner of Main & Tivy Streets, Kerrville, Texas 78028. The family requests that those in attendance wear shorts, as Tom loved to wear shorts to church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
