Timothy Ahrens

KERRVILLE Timothy Henry Ahrens, 61, of Utopia, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at a local hospital in Kerrville, Texas. He was born to Helen and Ed Ahrens in Bound Brook, New Jersey.

Tim graduated from Comfort High School in Comfort, Texas. He received a B.S. in Engineering from Texas AM University in 1974. Tim served four years in the United States Air Force in Bangor, Maine. He was married to Kris Schneider 2005. He lived in Kerrville and Austin, Texas for many years, before making Utopia his home.

Tim worked in the Electronics Industry developing new products and equipment. He was an individual contractor, making contributions from his home workshop. While in Austin, he worked at Motorola.

When Tim and Kris moved to Utopia, they fit into the community like a glove. They came in and gave to the community.

Tim was a certified fire fighter, an EMT, and was the Communications Officer Lt. for Utopia and Vanderpool. He was involved in many rescues and saved numerous lives. He was often first on the scene when fire calls came in.

Before coming to Utopia, Tim lived in Kerrville and Austin and was Fire Chief at Turtle Creek Fire Department in Kerrville, and was Chief of the Driftwood Volunteer Fire Department in Austin. He was a member of the Living Waters Church in Utopia and was known to read the bible to his children each night.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Helen and Ed, and sister Pam.

Tim is survived by his wife, Kris six daughters, Katie Justin Tenery, Jill, Beau Jessica, Jessie, Cassie and Izzy two grandchildren brother, Ed sister, Donna and their families, along with many loving friends, neighbors, and his fire department family as well.
Tim died of a very rare condition which involved a blood clot in the Portal Vein to the liver.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mision De Candelilla misiondecandelilla.org or to the family. An account has been set up with the First State Bank of Uvalde Utopia Branch, in the name of Kris Ahrens.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM, Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Living Waters Church in Utopia, with interment following at Jones Cemetery, also in Utopia.
