Thomas Smith

Kerrville Thomas Richard Smith went to be with the Lord on December 14, 2010 at the age of 83.

He was an only child, born on September 21, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Julia Amy and John Leo Smith. He attended NYC Public Schools and graduated from RPI Rensselear PolyTech with a Bachelor of Management Engineering in 1950. After 2 years in the US Navy, where he taught school, mostly he entered George Washington University Law School for a semester.

He married Janet and they had two children, Kathleen Ann Bronstad and Garry Smith and his wife, Becki. This marriage ended after 22 years.

Tom married Ada Williams Eckhardt in 1974 and acquired three daughters, Melinda Lober and husband, Jim, Dr. Laurel Eckhardt and husband, Dr. Michael Young and Dr. Gail Eckhardt and husband, Dr. Steve Britt. Ada passed away in 1986, while they were living in Hong Kong.

Tom married Mary Ann Smith in 1988, acquiring four more children, the late Dick Smith and his wife, Judy, Suzi Warzecha and her husband, Newton, Becky White and her husband, Bill, and Hut Smith and his wife, Theresa.

Recently, he introduced to his ever growing family his fiancee, Barbara Diharce.

Tom is also survived by 20 grandchildren, Ted Bronstad, Amy Edwards and her husband, Clark, Kristen and Christopher, Courtney and husband, Peter, Eric, Natalie and Arissa, Blair and Bryon, Richard, Michael and wife, Cynthia, Patricia Thamm and her husband Michael, Andrea Cordell and her husband, Jeff, Shanna Pennington and her husband, Jeff, Libbye Morrell and her husband Rob, Carissa Fox and her husband, Todd, Julie, Tyler and Trevor Smith and 15 great grandchildren.
There will be no visitation.

A celebration of his life will be held at St. Peters Episcopal Church, Kerrville on Friday, December 17, 2010 at 1:00PM. A family celebration of life will be held in mid January 2011.

The family suggests that donations in his name be made to the Salvation Army.
