Rev. Thomas C. Price

Rev. Thomas Carroll Price, 86, of Ingram, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2023.

Tom was born in Lubbock, Texas, on January 17, 1937. Affectionately known as Tommy in his younger days, he graduated from Lubbock High School in 1955. He received his bachelor’s degree from McMurry University, where he met and married Rachel DeMent of Plainview. They then moved to Dallas, beginning a family while Tom earned his Master of Divinity degree from SMU’s Perkins School of Theology.

Tom’s first head pastorships were in Montana, notably the congregations in Fromberg and Three Forks. He later served several South Texas Methodist churches, as either head or associate pastor, including New Fountain; Coker, St. Andrew’s, Trinity, and Los Angeles Heights in San Antonio; the Chaplaincy of the Bexar Co. Jail; and churches in El Campo, Kenedy, and Center Point.

Rachel passed away in Kenedy in 1995, and Tom married Celina Engle in 1996. Tom and Celina have both served as members and officiants at Barnett Chapel in Kerrville.

Tom is survived by his wife, Celina; his children, Stephen Price, Brendan Price, and Sharon Price Hyland; grandchildren Hayden and Arden Price; nieces Sandie Shultz, Laurie Shultz Mann and Katie DeMent; Celina’s children, Ron and Leah Engle; and preceded in death by their sister, Karen.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, Layonna Browning Price and Edgar Leroy Price; sister, Norma Shultz; nephew, Tommy Shultz; and infant sister Myra Nell Price.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, August 5th at Barnett Chapel Methodist Church, 710 Paschal Avenue in Kerrville.
