Thomas Kane Lenox

Thomas “Tom” Kane Lenox, 50, of Kerrville, Texas, formerly Houston, Texas passed away on September 27, 2023 in Kerrville, Texas.

A Celebration of his Life will be held December 29^th, 2023 at the Bayside Event Center, 1723 61^st St., Galveston, Texas, 77551, from 4-8pm.

Tom was born May 27, 1973 in Palo Alto, California to parents, John Bowden Lenox and Judith Wood Lenox. He grew up in Houston, Texas.  While he was born in California, Tom was a Texan through and through, as he moved with his family to Houston, Texas as a toddler.  The youngest of three and the only boy, young Tom was famous for being a little charmer with a big grin, always making people laugh, and sometimes getting into mischief—think baby powder “snowing” all over his room!  Growing up, he loved bike riding, playing golf with his grandparents putt-putt or otherwise, hunting and fishing, swimming, and amusement parks. 

He was a proud member of Texas A&M University Class of 1995. He often credited Aggie Fish Camp for turning the goth kid into a country boy, because he realized you got to hold the girl when dancing. He definitely bled maroon especially during football season. Shortly after college, he met and married Anabel Lugo. They were married for 22 years. She stood by his side through all the trials and tribulations related to his physical health, mental health, and addiction challenges.  Together they have two children, Lauren Lenox and Ada Lenox. He took great joy in introducing his children to his many passions. He often took them to the driving range, the zoo, and fishing. He also indulged their interests such as monster truck rallies, livestock shows and video game play. Lauren’s greatest reminder of his love for her is Coco, her teacup yorkie. Her dream dog that Tom moved mountains to find. Ada would like everyone to know that even at the height of Tom’s battle with addiction, he always made an effort to play their favorite video games together.  Tom was so in love with and proud of his girls!

With his BANA degree from A&M, he worked as a computer programmer for most of his career. He worked in various industries including energy and finance. However, he was happiest golfing, hunting, fishing, or exploring the Texas Hill Country. At his side always was his hunting dog Ginger. She accompanied him on his most successful duck hunts and usually worked for all the hunters in the group. He loved to brag about her and the many hunters who preferred to hunt with the two of them. He ran a few marathons, including New York, where he excitedly ended up on TV when the Today Show panned to where he was standing on the plaza.

In more recent years, he suffered a knee replacement and was sidelined from many of his physically-intensive hobbies. This is when he turned his energy to helping animals. He served as a TWRC duck rehabber in his home and back yard. He was also the primary caretaker of the 4 family dogs and helped raise the family cat from a bottle.

Tom will always be remembered for his sense of humor and love of family.

Tom is preceded in death by his grandparents, Ken and Lu Wood and Roy and Carol Lenox; and his best friend, Josh Smith.

Survivors include his children Lauren and Ada Lenox, their mother Anabel Lenox; father, John “Jack” Lenox; mother, Judith “Judy” Lenox; sisters, Ann Kellams and Liz Freeman; half-brothers, Joey Lenox and Roy Edwards.
