Theodore Griggs

Memorial services for Mr. Theodore F. Ted Griggs, age 81, of Kerrville who died on Thursday, July 25, 2002 in a local hospital will be held at 10 AM on Monday July 29, 2002 in the chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Dr. Phil Tilden officiating. Inurnment will follow at 2:15 PM on Monday in the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas.Mr. Griggs was born on July 5, 1921 in Williamsport, PA to George and Alinebelle Griggs. After graduating high school he volunteered for the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served until 1946. He then entered civil service as a tool and die maker. He married Louise Flowers on November 11, 1946 in Hickory, North Carolina. He enjoyed metal detecting very much. He was also a very good handyman and mechanic. He had been a little league coach and a Boy Scout leader. He and his wife owned and operated The Substation on Methodist Encampment Road for 6 or 7 years. He loved his family most of all.He is survived by his wife Louise Griggs of Kerrville son Darrell Griggs and his wife Judy of Spartenburg, SC. daughter Cheryl Griggs Watson and her husband Tony of Kerrville four grandchildren Erin McCleod, Morgan Griggs, Nita Ashley and her husband Robert, and John F. Watson and his wife Melissa two greatgrandchildren Austin Thomas Ashley and Darrick McCleod.Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimers Association.Kerrville Funeral Home of Kerrville is in charge of arrangements.
