SAN ANTONIO- Ted Martin Held, 82, of Ingram, Texas, passed from this life at a local hospital on Friday, April 24, 2015, in San Antonio, Texas. Ted was born April 24, 1933, in Emporia, Kansas to Pedro Theodore Held and Frieda Hayworth Held.

Ted enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952 and proudly served his country while being stationed in Japan. After being honorably discharged from the service, he attended and graduated from Emporia State College in 1960. On May 20, 1961, Ted married his wife of 53 years, Vera Haikala, in Las Vegas, NV. Ted worked as a metrologist for North American Aviation and Rockwell International before retiring from Abbott Laboraties.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro and Frieda Held; sister, Cleodora Held and grandson, James Clinton LeHew.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory, are his wife, Vera Held; children, Gary Held, Lynn LeHew, Cheryl Young; sister, Louise Winn; grandchildren; Grace Major, Joseph Held, Anna Held, Faith Held, Ray Jonathon LeHew, Thomas Kenneth LeHew, Ted Martin LeHew, David Quinton LeHew and Sarah Young.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 2PM in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy. Kerrville, TX.

Interment will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 1:45 PM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
