Sybil Isobel Pullen Adair, 86, of Kerrville, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at a local hospital.Sybil was born September 20, 1920 in Cleethorpes, England, to parents Fred Simpson Pullen and Maud Green Pullen. During World War II she served as an ambulance attendant during the Battle for Britain. In 1951 she came to the U.S. to visit her younger sister, Joan, who had married an American GI and was living in Borger, TX. Sybil decided to stay and became employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. where she met James G. Jim Adair. She and Jim were married December 15, 1956, and recently enjoyed their 50th anniversary celebration in Seabrook, TX with many friends and relatives.Sybil is survived by her husband, James G. Jim Adair, Kerrville a brother Horace Hodder Pullen and his wife, Gladys, in England and her sister, Joan, and husband William Bill Bluhm, in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Also surviving are Sybils and Jims three sons, David, Robert, and John Nick. David and wife, Terri, and their two sons, Michael and Steven, live in League City, TX. Robert lives in Kerrville, TX. John Nick and wife, Deborah, live in Sugar Land, TX. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins living in England and the U.S.Among Sybils many joys in life was travel. During Jims 35 years with Phillips they were afforded the opportunity to live in Pasadena, TX, Orange, TX, Elgin, IL, Overland Park, KS, Bartlesville, OK, Clear Lake City, TX for 19 years and finally moving to Kerrville in 1993. Favorite vacation destinations were England and Arkansas to visit relatives, Maui to visit son Robert, and in Texas the Big Bend, the hill country, and the Texas seashore. Also, annual reunions with Phillips retirees in Oklahoma and Texas were memorable events.Sybil enjoyed her activity in Unity Church and other spiritual organizations as well as cooking, sewing, machine knitting, and quilting classes and clubs. Her extensive book collection is a perfect indication of Sybils avid reading and wide range of interests. Sybil always loved animals, especially cats, and the latest, Kate, is a real treasure.Sybils presence touched many lives and she will be lovingly remembered by all.The memorial service will be at the Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy., Kerrville, on Saturday, March 31, at 11:00 a.m., led by the Rev.
