San Antonio Shirley Mae Weeks, 70, of Kerrville, TX who passed from this life on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at a San Antonio hospital was born February 25, 1937 in Lee Summit, MO to Victor and Anna Marie Peters Springer. Mrs. Weeks spent most of her earlier years living in California moving back to the Kansas City, MO area in 1972. She worked for Tyson Foods and Southwestern Bell Telephone, but spent most of her life as a homemaker. She married Wesley Weeks on November 22, 1986 in Aurora, MO, moving to Texas in 1990 and to Kerrville in 1994.She was a member of the Country Songwriters Association in Nashville, TN, she was a published poet, and loved to crochet. A number of her poems were used to write Country Western songs that eventually became hits with various artists. Above all else, she dearly loved her family, and was most especially fond of Christmas and enjoying the grandchildren.Preceding her in death were her parents. Surviving her are her loving husband, Wesley Weeks of Kerrville, TX a son, Lewis Ward of Kerrville, TX a daughter, Tina Spivey of San Antonio, TX five stepchildren four grandchildren along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.Family visitation is scheduled from 5 7 PM, Sunday, December 2, 2007 at Kerrville Funeral Home. Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:15 PM, Monday, December 3, 2007 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas with Chaplain Karen Price officiating.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
