Shirley James

Kerrville In the early morning of March 21, 2012, Shirley Ann James moved on to eternal freedom with her Father in Heaven. Shirley was born on Hugo Street in Kerrville on July 28, 1935 to Arlie Franklin James and Ellen Ora Rees James. In 1945, the family moved to Knapp Road, which became her permanent address until January 2012. She attended Tivy Elementary School and was a 1953 graduate of Tivy High School. After graduation, Shirley began her career as a secretary in Kerrville, most notably with the Stell Jeter Insurance Agency and the Kerrville Funeral Home. After retirement, she became the caregiver to her mother, Ellen Ora, until her passing in October 2000.

Shirleys main interests included her love of photography and her many pets. She had multiple albums of her family and friends that she had photographed over the years. Her favorite pet was a brown dachshund named Pepper.

Shirleys parents, Arlie Franklin James and Ellen Ora Rees James, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Arlie Richard James and his wife, Florence, of Fredericksburg TX 3 nieces and 1 nephew, Pat Rogers and husband Mike of Kerrville TX, Laura Timmermann and husband Gary of Midland TX, Bill James and wife Ida of Austin TX, and Deniese Itz and husband Bryan of Arlington, TX 9 great nieces and nephews, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 24, 2012 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Allen officiating. Interment will be at Glenn Rest Cemetery at a later date.

The family would like to thank Plaza on the River Nursing Center and Peterson Hospice for their thoughtful care in Shirleys final days.
