Santos Gonzalez Chacon of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on November 20, 2012 at his residence.
Santos was born November 14, 1931 in Devine, Texas to Manuel and Francisca Gonzalez Chacon. In 1950 1951 he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War then in the Army Reserves until 1957 leaving the Army as a corporal. He married the love of his life, Alice Sanchez, in Pearsall, Texas on September 17, 1956. In 1960, he moved to Kerrville where he became employed at James Avery as a jewelry designer until his retirement in 2005. He was a parishioner at Notre Dame Catholic Church and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid football and Dallas Cowboys fan but especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play. His favorite pastime was having BBQ with his family especially roasting peppers and he also enjoyed working in his yard. Santos was very giving and loving toward others and his special care and generosity will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Santos is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Juan, Manual, and Raymond.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife, Alice Chacon four sons, Robert Chacon and wife, Ofelia, David Chacon and wife Candy, Michael Chacon and Edward Chacon eleven grandchildren six greatgrandchildren three brothers, Ernest Chacon, Ricky Chacon, and Richard Chacon four sisters, Pauline Brown, Tomasa Ramirez, Minga Gonzalez, and Nicha Andrade numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be 7:00 PM Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Kerrville Funeral Home with visitation to follow until 9:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00, Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Pearsall, Texas with Father Andrew Kafara as celebrant with recitation of the rosary starting at 12 noon prior to services at the church. Interment with military honors will be at the Veterans Cemetery in Pearsall.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
