Kerrville Salvador G. Garza, Jr., age 69, of Kerrville, TX passed from this life on January 18, 2007. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on December 13, 1937 to parents, Salvador and Juanita Chapa Garza. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School in Corpus Christi, received a BA from the University of Baylor and A Doctor of Laws Degree from the Baylor Law School. He was admitted to the Texas State Bar in 1960. From 1960 to 1964, Sal served in the United States Air Force as a JAG Officer. After leaving the Air Force, he was in private law practice in Corpus Christi. In 1969, he began employment with the Department of Veterans Affairs where he remained until he and his wife Donna, retired to Kerrville, TX in 1997.Sal was an active member of Elks, having served as a Past Exalted Ruler. He was a member of DAV and American Legion, having served as Post Service Officer, Adjutant and District Services Officer of the American Legion. Semiretired, he was currently performing pro bono legal work and assisting veterans with claims.He is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Juanita Chapa Garza, two brothers, Judge Noe C. Garza and Judge Margarito Garza, and sister, Amelia Mendez.He is survived by his lovely wife, Donna Garza, a daughter Christine Garza Guarino and husband Kenan of Cornish NH a son Marc E. Garza and wife Vicki of Jacksonville, FL. two stepdaughters, Holli Ticknor of San Antonio, and Cheryl and husband COL Peter Nielsen, MD., of Gig Harbor, WA. He and Donna shared eleven beloved grandchildren: Jennifer, Emily, and Nicole Guarino, Pauline, Gabrielle and Madeleine Garza, Kristin, Karl and Erik Nielsen and Ryan and Rachel Ticknor. He is also survived by two sisters, Irene Ledesma and Dora Sanchez of Corpus Christi, TX. He also leaves behind his beloved pet Bailey.Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, January 22, 2007 at Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sherry Strain officiating. ation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2007 from 5:008:00 PM at Kerrville Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. A Memorial Mass Will be held Tuesday January 23, 2007 at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. Memorial Donations may be made to Texas Elks Childrens services. 1963 FM Rd. 1586 Gonzales, Texas 78629
