Ruth Thoensen

Ruth Grenchik Thoensen, age 89, passed from this life peacefully on May 10, 2014. Ruth was born on January, 1925, to Mary Misianik Cvaniga Grenchik and Stephen Grenchik in Hammond, IN.

Ruth grew up and spent most of her younger years in Hammond, IN. In grade school she attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School and graduated high school from George Rogers Clark High School. As a young woman she worked in Chicago, IL. She enjoyed her trips in to the city as it was one of her favorite places. Later on in life she met and fell in love with Frank Thoensen. They were married on March 11, 1961. Ruth was a gentle woman of classical taste who enjoyed traveling, classical music, opera, history, bridge, and many outdoor activities. Ruth will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her parents brother, Fr. Stephen Cvaniga and sisters, Mary Cvaniga Kaminsky, Dolores Grenchik Toth.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Frank Thoensen sisters, Ann Cvaniga, and Sue Wilson nephew, Jack Toth and wife Cheryl niece, Linda Kalwinski and husband Mark and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2014, 2 PM at the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Hwy. Kerrville, TX 78028. A reception to follow after service at The Vicksburg Village Homeowners Association Clubhouse 300 Vicksburg Avenue Kerrville TX
