Ruth Agnes Dorsey DeVine, 91, of Kerrville, Texas passed from this life on December 13, 2013 at her daughters residence.
Ruth was born September 2, 1922 in Sylvan Township, Minnesota to Edward Joseph and Agnes Isabell Bader Dorsey. She married Clarence Holton in September 1940. She graduated from Meeker County School of Practical Nursing in 1966. The happiest years of her life occurred after she married Kenneth M. DeVine on September 14, 1974 in Brainerd, MN. Together they moved to Kerrville in 1997. Ruth, a cradle Episcopalian, was an active church member her entire life to include St. Peters Episcopal Church in Kerrville, TX. During their active years, they volunteered and participated in many groups. She was a lover of life, enjoyed traveling a mean cribbage game, playing Bingo volunteered at the Raphael Clinic, and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. An extremely spiritual person and passionate prayer warrior, Ruth, fervently read her Kindle, enthusiastically followed the SA Spurs, and particularly adored Christmas and all the decorations. She admired the family dog Honey. Ruth was a special person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those who preceded her in death include her parents husbands daughter, Rosemary Eileen Thoreson and brother, William E. Dorsey and his wife Bernice.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include: daughters Nancy Hogg and husband Mitchell of Kerrville, TX and Mary Jane Lingenfelter and husband Kenneth of Staples, MN 6 grandchildren: Jay, Brainerd, MN Kirk, Nisswa, MN and Joel Lingenfelter Staples, MN Lesa Torrey Van Camp, Drayton, ND John, and Michael Torrey, Grand Forks, ND 16 greatgrandchildren four greatgreatgrandchildren sister, Jane McHale, of Brainerd, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 21, 2013 at the Plaza on the River with Rev. Stockton Williams, Rev. Tom Murray III, and Rev. John Campbell officiating. A reception will follow services. Memorial services in Brainerd, MN will be held Saturday, January 25, 2013 at HalvorsonJohnson Funeral Home. Interment will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
