Roy S. Praytor, 97, of Kerrville, TX passed away peacefully November 4, 2004 at a local hospital.Mr. Praytor was born May 26, 1907 to T.J. and Alice Praytor in Cleburne, TX. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army in the Medical Corps in the European Theater. He married Mayme Holcomb in 1946, and he became a jeweler and a watchmaker in 1947. During the 1950s they moved to Kerrville and opened Praytor Jewelry Store on Earl Garrett and operated it until 1970. He was very active in the community and helped organize the Optimists Club in Kerrville. He and his wife were active members of Trinity Baptist Church where Mr. Praytor was a deacon and the secretary for the deacons for a number of years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and was a football fan.He is preceded in death by his parents brother, William Praytor and an uncle, Luther Praytor.He is survived by his wife, Mayme Praytor stepsister, Marie Snyder of Wellington, TX, and greatniece, Pauline Rhea of Lovington, NM.Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Monday, November 8, 2004 at the Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Hinton officiating. Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery. An open visitation will be Sunday, November 7, 2004 at the Kerrville Funeral Home from 10:00AM to 8:00PM.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
