Roy Clifford Lewis of Ingram, Texas passed in his sleep on Friday, January 8, 2016. He was born August 26, 1947 to Oakley Roy and Virginia Mae (Whitehouse) Lewis in Kentucky. His first love was the structure and discipline of the Army. He served with distinction earning a Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, 2 Purple Hearts, an Individual Presidential Citation and many other awards. At one time he was asked to be the personal driver for Gen. Creighton Abrams when he served as Chief of Staff. Roy survived 2 helicopter crashes in Vietnam which led to his later disabilities. While in Vietnam he answered a pen pal letter generated through "Dear Abby". This led to a mail courtship, and marriage while on leave, to Catherine Lewis in 1968.

Roy is survived by his wife Cathy; daughter, Melissa and husband John Stein of San Marcos; sons, Robbie and Matthew of Ingram; granddaughter, Joanna and fiancé Randy Gierisch; great grandchildren, Emily, Johnathon, Randy III, Andrew and Ashley. He was always close to his mother-in-law, Josephine (BO) Horton and brother-in-law, Robert Horton of Mountain Home. He leaves two sisters, Debbie and Brenda of Kentucky; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

No funeral is planned at this time. A fitting memorial will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the DVA, PVA, or Salvation Army.
