Brownsville Rose Ellen Gilson, 89, of Brownsville, Texas, formerly of Kerrville, passed away peacefully at Meadows Assisted Living Facility on February 17, 2005.Mrs. Gilson was born June 28, 1915 in Cheboygan, Michigan to William Eli and Rose Dorothy Perry. She married William F. Bill Gilson on July 24, 1937 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Throughout her married life, she held residency in Brownsville, Texas, San Juan, Puerto Rico, Houston, Texas, and Kerrville, Texas. While residing in Kerrville, she was an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Church, volunteered at Dietert Claim, and was a member of the Trailblazers walking club.She was preceded in death by her husband on July 5, 1990.She is survived by daughters, Carole Jeffress of Blue Ridge, Georgia, Ellen Snodgrass of Brownsville sons, Billy Glison of Houston, Texas, and Bobby Gilson of Independence, Missouri sister, Monica Hinkley of Cheboygan, Micigan brothers, Bernard Perry of Cheboygan, Michigan, Jack Perry of Cheboygan, Michigan, and Dick Perry of Columbus, Mississippi ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren, along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.In lieu of floral arrangements, the family suggests memorials be made to the Parkinsons Foundation or Health Care Odyssey, 2108 Central Blvd, Brownsville, Texas 78520.The family would especially like to thank Health Care Odyssey Hospice and Meadows Assisted Living in Brownsville for their excellent care and help.Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 AM, Monday at the Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Mike Boulette officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. A Rosary will be held at 3 PM, Sunday with visitation following until 5 PM. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
