Rosa Lee Lucille Fowler Pritchard
19152010
After living 95 years, two months and two days, Rosa Lee Lucille Fowler Pritchard gently passed away, Wednesday, June 9, at the Cedar Creek Nursing Center in Bandera.
She was born April 7, 1915, in San Antonio, to Claude Hamilton and Pauline Alice Louise McGinnis Fowler, one of 11 surviving children.
After meeting James Edward Pritchard, Rosa Lee married him eight days later. Although the couple had no children of their own, after the death of Rosa Lees parents, they raised her 13yearold younger sister, Felice, as their own. Later, after Felices marriage failed, Jim and Rosa Lee again cared for Felice and her two children.
Although she had many talents, singing became her passion. Rosa Lee possessed an angelic voice and loved singing for weddings and funerals indeed, for any and everyone who would listen. She even joined Wayne Newton on stage while visiting Las Vegas. Rosa Lee loved to perform.
After purchasing land at Lake Buchanan, she and Jim spent almost every weekend building their retirement home at the lake. They were happily married over 60 years until Jims death in 1995. Much to the surprise of all who knew her, Rosa Lee not only survived the death of her honey, but also flourished, adamantly refusing to leave the home her honey had built for her. For the last 20 years, Betty Burton, Patty and Jack Bradfield, and Lorraine McVey became Rosa Lees guardian angels.
She brought bright smiles and precious memories to all who knew her. Rosa Lee had a heart even larger than her smile, and a kind spirit that always found the good in every situation and never said a harsh word about anyone.
Over the years, Rosa Lee kept in touch by writing letters and cards to all of her husbands 15 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews. She was as devoted to her own 10 brothers and sisters and their families, as well. Rosa Lee was the last remaining member of both her and her husbands siblings.
Rosa Lee Pritchard spent many happy years with people who loved her and many hours singing praises to her Lord. Shes home at last with her Lord, her honey and her many family members.
A Celebration of her life was held in Bandera Saturday, June 12, 2010.
