nbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspnbspKerrville Roberta Pittman Rice Brown, 81, departed us and joined the Lord on September 3, 2007. The daughter of Harold Frederick Rice and Jo Pittman. She was born in Denver, Colorado, and raised in Grand Forks, North Dakota. She attended The University of Wisconsin and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in MusicHarp. In 1948, she married the late John William Brown and moved to Houston, Texas. In 1956 they moved to Kerrville, Texas.Roberta taught music at Starkey Elementary School for 29 years and was a member of Texas State Teachers Association and Texas Music Educators Association. For many years, she was active at the Hill Country Arts Foundation, having run the box office and performed in occasional HCAF plays. Roberta was active in the Kerr County Republican women and was tireless worker in many political campaigns. She was a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma honorary scholastic sorority and American Association of University Women.Roberta had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Kerrville, since 1956 where she was an active member and officer of Presbyterian women and volunteered in the message center. For many years, she was the harpist for the Christmas Candlelight Service at First Presbyterian Church as well as many local functions.Roberta Brown is survived by her two sons, Jay Brown of Houston and Warren Brown of Fort Worth, as well as four grandchildren, Cameron of Houston, Collin and Christian of Austin and Jennifer of Mineral Wells.
