Escondido, California Robert L. Woodard of Hunt, Texas passed from this life on Thursday, October 11, 2007 in an Escondido hospital after a short illness. He was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1923 to Joseph Howard and Elfrieda Selzer Woodard. He served as a night fighter pilot in the Marine Corps during WWII, in the pacific theatre and attained the rank of Captain. After the end of the war, Mr. Woodard attended college and received his Bachelor of Science degree in geology. He worked for Chevron Corporation for 38 years and was very successful in his career, with major finds in oil fields and uranium projects. In 1948, he married his beloved wife, Nanci, and had a wonderful 56 year marriage. Mr. Woodard lived in Hunt for 20 years. Robert is survived by his four children, eleven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren along with a host of many friends and neighbors.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 19 at 1:30 PM at the Notre Dame Catholic Church, Kerrville, TX. Committal will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association.Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
