Robert John Ross, 90, of Kerrville, TX died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at a local care facility.Robert John Ross was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 17, 1914 to Thomas Ross and Mary Dunlop Ross who were from Scotland. He graduated from Central High School and the University of Nebraska with a B.S. in Petroleum Geology. After serving in the European Theater of Operations in World War II, he worked as a Petroleum Geologist in San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and McAllen, Texas for forty years. He retired in Kerrville in 1987. He was a member of the South Texas Geological Society, the Kerr Bandera Geoscientist, and was a 56 year member of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church and had served as a deacon and an elder. He was very proud of his Scottish heritage.He is survived by his wife Elinor, his daughter Marsha Lee and her husband, Clayton Burnham of McAllen, and his son, Robert Thomas Ross of San Antonio, TX.A memorial service will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Schreiner Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville. Private interment will be prior to service at Garden of Memories cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Scholarship Fund, the Annual Fund of Schreiner University, or the Building Fund of the First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville.
