Kerrville Robert quotBobquot Hugh Parsons went to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, January 9th, 2012.
Bob was born on February 17, 1951 in St. Louis, Missouri to Herbert Jr. and Jean Parsons. On March 22, 1975, Bob married his friend, Linda Ann Kolvoord Parsons. This year, they would have celebrated 38 years of marriage. Bob spent his childhood years in St. Louis, Missouri, where he was affectionately known as quotBobby.quot He had a close group of friends who remained some of his dearest companions throughout the course of his entire life. A notorious prankster, he preferred adventurous mischief to the rigors of his private school upbringing. It was during those early years that he discovered his love for boating and found any excuse to be in the great outdoors, earning the distinction of Eagle Scout in 1965.
In the spring of 1968, he finally became a Texan when his family relocated to Dallas. One year later, he graduated from Jesuit High School. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly served his country while living his dream on the open sea. He later attended Stephen F. Austin State University, where he met the love of his life, Linda Ann Kolvoord Parsons. The two were married in Cypress, Texas in 1975. They later had two daughters, Laura and Kelly. Bob rounded out his family with a number of canine companions, all of whom he adored.
Bob was a gifted salesman and spent most of his career specializing in school transportation, both as a school district or and later in sales. His natural ability to genuinely connect with people on all levels helped him to form lasting friendships throughout his many years on the job.
Bob was a devoted family man who loved, more than anything, to dote on the three women in his life. He had a servants heart, always jumping at the opportunity to help, fix, or reassure. He had a notoriously wit and had a way of keeping everyone around him in stitches. He simply loved to make people laugh. He spent nearly every summer at the helm of the Parsons family boat, creating lasting memories at Lake L.B.J. Navigating the water wasnt Bobs only fascination he earned his private pilots license and enjoyed taking to the skies over the Texas Hill Country.
Bob Parsons left a lasting legacy by the way in which he lived his life, teaching us to love wholeheartedly, laugh often, and offer genuine concern and compassion for those around us.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ann Parsons. Others left to honor and cherish his memory are his children daughter, Laura Ann Maxwell and her husband Joseph Austin Maxwell, of Odenton, MD., and daughter, Kelly Christine Sanders and her husband Evan Keith Sanders of Newport News, VA. He also is survived by his brother, Herbert quotDocquot Parsons III, of Spring, Texas and Carol Scholl Lammers, of St. Louis, MO, a dear friend who was like a sister to Bob. Surviving extended family include Larry and Terrie Kolvoord, of Austin, TX and their two sons Evan and John, as well as Mary Weaver of Richardson, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday at 2 PM in the sanctuary of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville, Texas, officiated by the Rev. Ray Altman.
