Kerrville Robert Bob James Miller, age 73, passed into glory on Saturday, October 13, 2007, under the care of hospice, at his home. He is survived by his wife Cora, daughter Stacy, and her husband John Elliott, all of Kerrville a granddaughter Kory, her husband Dominic Fugazzi, and their children, Aaron and Aubreyanna, of Kettle Falls, Washington. Bob is also survived by daughter LaVonna, her husband, Shannon Perkins, and three grandchildren, Harley, Thomas James TJ and Shannen, of Yuma Arizona.Bob was born in San Jose, California, and graduated from high school in Grass Valley, California. He attended college at the University of Colorado at Boulder. His employment fields were varied: lead mining at Climax, Colorado, banking officer in Alton, Illinois, and finally, the U.S. Border Patrol. Bob has told about his uncertain and suspensefilled trek in his old car traveling from Illinois to Calexico, California in the month of February to begin his Border Patrol employment. He said there were more stops to fill up with oil than with gasoline with the hope that the vehicle would make it. Bob served from 1967 until 1992 achieving the level of field Operations Supervisor. His duty assignments were Calexico, Temecula and San Diego Chula Vista, California, and at Oroville, Laurier Port of Entry as Immigration Inspector, and Spokane, Washington.Bob loved to travel to new areas that he had researched his photography had glorious results and as a history buff and avid reader, he was a tour guide for family and friends and taught us so much. Bob will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him and loved him. These past years of living in Texas have truly been a gift and a joy to Bob and he deeply cherished all his new found helpful friends and neighbors in Kerrville. Bob was so proud to be a New Texan.The family wishes to thank the supreme efforts of Vista Care Hospice and for the expertise and caring assistance of Edgewater Care Center. A Memorial Service will be held on October 16, 2007 in the Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home at 11 AM with Rev. Rob Lohmeyer and Rev. Kathryn Morton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
