Robert Wallace Elkins, 74, passed away peacefully April 17, 2005 at his residence in Kerrville following a courageous battle against lung cancer.Colonel Elkins was born in Junction City, Kansas on November 14, 1930. He grew up in South Texas Rio Grande Valley and graduated with the Class of 1951 from Texas AM University. He proudly served as a pilot in the US Air Force with over 23 distinguished years and retired in 1977. After his retirement from military service, he pursued his passion of aviation and flew civilian aircraft for another 15 years.He was the son of Wallace and Myrtle Elkins who preceded him in death.He is survived by his loving wife Linda nee Schatschneider, his children, Deborah Elkins, Robert Wallace Elkins, Jr., Aven Strand, and Erika Garwood. He has eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.Graveside services with full military honors will be 1:30PM, Thursday, April 21, 2005 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. ation will be 68:00PM, Wednesday, at the Kerrville Funeral Home.
