KERRVILLE Rita Margaret Stanford, 83, passed from this life on April 27, 2012 at her residence in Kerrville, TX. She was born in Chicago, IL on December 2, 1928 to Walter and Margaret Hassett Wallace.

She married Benjamin T. Stanford, III on May 26, 1956 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Amarillo, TX. Rita was a loving mother of four, and like her own father, she was a gifted artist. She possessed a vivacious sense of humor and a loving demeanor.

Rita was active in the Kerrville Arts community and was an avid volunteer. She cherished her church family, and was a devoted parishner of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 25 years, Benjamin T. Stanford, III.

Those left to honor and cherish her loving memory are her children, Mark Stanford, Julie Palmer, Christopher Stanford, and Gail Melina her sister, Rosemary Delano seven grandchildren and 2 greatgrandchildren along with a host of many loving friends and neighbors.

A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 6 PM, Tuesday, May 1, 2012 in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home led by Deacon Charles Dominges. A Celebration of Mass will begin at 9:30 AM, Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Notre Dame Catholic Church with Father Alberto Colin. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Cemetery, also in Kerrville, TX.

Memorial contributions in Ritas honor may be made to the Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, South Dakota 57770, or to the charity of ones choice.
