San Antonio ndash Richard Wells Brandon, 72, of Kerrville, TX, passed away on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born in Scurry, TX to Henry Frank Brandon and Gwendolyn Youngblood Brandon on November 25, 1936. Richardrsquos father was a Methodist minister who served churches in Texas and in Colorado when Richard was . Richardrsquos mother remarked often on Richardrsquos good nature and kind disposition, traits he carried throughout his life. Richard spent his later school days in Texas City, TX, where he played basketball and football. He graduated from Texas City High in 1956. hips formed in high school have lasted his entire life. In 1955, Richard met and fell in love with Jane Ann Putnam. They began dating for the next three years, became engaged in 1958 and married on June 27, 1959. A wonderful life began for them that lasted for 50 years. Richard worked for Brown and Root in Houston, TX where he got in on the ground floor of the computer age. His career was interrupted when he was drafted into the Armed Forces. He served his country for two years, and then he continued his career with Brown and Root for the next twenty seven years. God blessed them with two wonderful children, and the family moved to Hillcrest Village, TX in 1967 when the children were . They resided there until 1995. Richard was known by those who knew and loved him as a quiet man who had exceptional common sense a keen sense of humor a great love of the outdoors, travel, camping and fishing. He was very dedicated to his family. He was involved in Little League baseball, scouting and all the activities of his children. In 1995, Richard and Jane moved to Kerrville, TX, a place they had visited in the hill country many times through the years. They first joined the First United Methodist Church and became active in Fishermanrsquos Club and the 21st Century Class. Richard enjoyed helping with the Lenten Lunches and the Rummage Sales. He began painting at Dietert Claim Senior Center and enjoyed this immensely. They spent anbsplot of time camping and traveling while in retirement. Richard is predeceased by his parents and his brother. He is survived by his wife, Jane his daughter, Cynthia and her husband, Randy Dyer his son, John Brandon his grandson, Travis Knudson his stepgrandchildren, Emily Dyer Love and husband, Bryan Ethan Dyer, Tyler Knudson and Ashley Knudson and several great grandchildren. Richard had a special bond with his nephew, Bruce Brandon and wife, Sandra, and grand niece Rachel Ann and with his niece Julie Ann Smith and her husband J.B. and their children Kathryn and Preston. ation will be at Kerrville Funeral Home, 1221 Junction Highway, Kerrville, TX on Friday evening, February 27, 2009 from 68PM. A celebration of his life will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 351 Thompson Dr, Kerrville, TX, on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 11:00AM. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family asks that monetary donations in Richardrsquos name be made to the American Cancer Society, 8115 Datapoint Dr, San Antonio, TX 78229 or MD Anderson Hospital, 1515 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX 77030 or to the First United Methodist Church, 351 Thompson Dr, Kerrville, TX 78028
