Kerrville Raymond S. Yarton, 90, went to be with theLord on Saturday January 24 2009. Ray came to Kerrville from Toledo, Ohio where he was born and raised.Hehad beenemployed at the Ohio Medical College before he and his wife started an antique business. Ray has been a residence of Kerrville for the past 2 12 years where he resided at 220 Harper assisted living. He was very happy there and made many friends of the fellow residence and staff. During WWIIRay served in the Navy in the south Pacific aboard a Tanker. He was engaged in actual combat with Japanese Units. He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Medal and other medals. He loved the Navy and always spoke fondly of certain events that occurred while he was on active duty.His wife Mary, predeceased him in May of 2006 in Toledo. It was after her passing that he decided to move to Kerrville where he would be with his daughter and soninlaw, Judith and Cameron Kilian and son Donald Yarton.He enjoyed visits from his grandson Joseph Kilianof Dallas.Ray attended St. Johns High School in Toledoand was a member of OLPH parish.Viewing will be from 57PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2009at Kerrville Funeral Home followed by the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Notre Dame Catholic Church at 1:30PM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories.
