Kerrville Raymond Donald Stallings, better known as Don, passed into eternal life on March 26, 2011. Don was born on January 10, 1933 in Big Spring, Texas. Don graduated from Pasadena High School in 1950 and Texas AM in 1954. He was a United States Air Force veteran.
Don is survived by his wife of 36 years, Doris, daughters Debra Williams, Susan Caldwell and Cynthia Lee soninlaws Fred Caldwell, Guy Condra and Jim Lee seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his son, David Wayne Stallings in 1980, father Raymond Dero Stallings in 1960, mother Cora Stallings in 1989 and brother Sam Nicks in 1995. Other survivors include a sister and brotherinlaw, Patsy and John Chappelear and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Don was the first in his family to graduate from Texas AM and was followed by three children, two soninlaws, two granddaughters and others. Don was a homebuilder and developer who founded a Houston based company called quotThe Orginals.quot The Originals consisted of as many as 18 different building companies in the 70s and 80s. Don was an outstanding builder, designer he drew all of his own plans and businessman.
Don and Doris brought two families together in 1975 and Don was very proud to have all four children respect and claim each other as brothers and sisters. He and Doris had no problem with equal love for all the children.
The family would like to thank the staff at Peterson Medical Center and Peterson Hospice whose loving care made the final days a time of Gods abundant grace. We thank God for giving us Don Stallings a loving father, husband, friend, man of strong faith and an inspiration to each of us. Don kept his sense of humor until the end and was very strong throughout his illness. As he said before he passed, quotIt is a win win situation.quot Because of his faith, Don had no fear of death. Don is now in heaven with his Lord and with his beloved son and other loved ones for which we praise God.
A Memorial Service honoring Dons life will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, Texas. Private Family Interment will be at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Kerrville, Texas.
Donations in Dons name may be made to the Peterson Medical Center and Peterson Medical Hospice, First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, the Texas AM 12th Man Foundation or any other charity of your choice.
