Peggy Keeler

Graveside Services for Peggy Keeler, 84, of Dallas, TX who passed on October 5, 2018 will be held at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 2350 Fredericksburg Road on October 13, 2018 at 3pm.

Peggy Keeler passed from this life at the age of 84 on October 5, 2018. She was born on March 14, 1934, in Lexington, TN to William Ernest Scott and Rosa Mae Blankenship. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1952, where she played drums in the marching band and met her husband, Luther, who was the love of her life. She attended one year of business school where she learned secretarial skills. She worked briefly as a legal secretary and then was the assistant to the director of the museum at the University of Oklahoma while Luther completed his petroleum engineering degree. Peggy was primarily a homemaker, raising two children, Leslie and Daniel, and supported her husband as he worked in various locations as a petroleum engineer.

Peggy and Luther married on April 7, 1953, and resided mainly in Jackson, MS, Corpus Christi, TX, and Houston, TX before building a retirement home in Kerrville, TX with a great view of the hill country where they lived for twenty years before his death. She was an avid gardener, seamstress, and loved to cook and spend holidays with family and friends. The couple enjoyed travel visiting Europe, Mexico, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Australia, and New Zealand. She cherished a long friendship with Pam Perkins of Arlington and Pat Hickman of Houston, who together called themselves the "Three P's". Peggy moved from Kerrville into Juliette Fowler Independent Living in Dallas for the last year of her life to be closer to family, where she made new friends with whom she shared a lunch table and discussed world events.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Rosa Mae Scott, an infant brother Dennis, and her husband of 62 years, Luther Keeler.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Daniel Nelson Keeler and wife Andrea of Midland, TX and Leslie Marie Sullivan and husband Kevin of Dallas, TX; sister, Marie Wharton and nephew Scott Wharton of Lexington, TN; grandchildren, Diana and Andrew Keeler of Midland, TX; Ryan Sullivan and girlfriend Erin Geoffroy of Dallas, TX; Shelby Sullivan of Fort Worth, TX; Audrey Rauscher and husband Howard and son James all of Austin, TX.

Her family wishes to thank her medical team at UTSW for their care over the years, VNA Hospice, and Juliette Fowler Communities.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Juliette Fowler Communities.
