Paul Lewis

Paul W. Lewis, Jr., 74, of Kerrville, Texas entered into rest on January 14, 2009 at a hospital in San Antonio. Paul was born May 3, 1934 in the family home in Washington, PA to Paul and Bessie Lewis. He was a star high school football player and enjoyed playing baseball and golfing in his years after high school. He moved to Los Alamos, NM in 1963 and went to work at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a machinist. He worked at the lab until he retired December 31, 1989. He met Mary in 1963 and married in a Las Vegas wedding on February 22, 1964. They had their only child, Kimberly Lewis, in 1965. Paul has two children, Barry Lewis and Carol Hitchcock from a previous marriage. Paul was an avid hunter and all around outdoorsman, and also enjoyed playing and watching all kinds of sports. He belonged to Ducks Unlimited, a wildlife and habitat preservation group, where he served as state chairman for several years. Paul and Mary moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1991. Paul started golfing and working part time at the Arroyo Del Oso Golf Course he loved hanging out with the guys. For the past ten years Paul and Mary have been residents of Kerrville where Paul worked on the Vicksburg Village board. He also volunteered at Peterson Regional Medical Center. He will be missed by his family, friends and neighbors. Paul is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Mary Lewis two daughters, Kimberly Lewis Olivas and husband David of Albuquerque, NM and Carol Hitchcock of Washington, PA son Barry Lewis and wife Theresa of Indianapolis, IN six grandchildren seven greatgrandchildren brother, Richard Lewis and wife Rodell of Washington, PA and two sisters, Mary Bash of Washington, PA, and Betty Sprague and husband Bob of Nazareth, PA. Memorial services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, January 19, 2009 at the main chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Warren Hornung officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the local VFW. Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Kerrville Funeral Home.
