Kerrville Paul Burke Aikman, SMSgt. USAF Retired passed away at the age of 80, July 17, 2006, at a local hospital. Mr. Aikman was born June 3, 1926 to Paul and Helen Aikman in Peru, Indiana and grew up in Seymour Indiana. In 1944 at the age of 18 he joined the US Army and was a Sgt. assigned to the 3rd Army in Europe during the end of and after WWII. While still in Germany he received his Honorable discharge from the Army then reenlisted in what is now the US Air Force. While on leave from his duties he returned to Seymour where he married Ramona E. Davidson on September 15, 1946. Shortly afterwards he was assigned to duty in the Panama Canal Zone, which would be one of his many duty stations home and abroad during his 26 years of service. He received his final retirement orders from the U.S. Air Force in 1973. After his retirement from the USAF he received a degree in accounting from San Diego City College in San Diego, CA. and worked as a CPA in the San Diego area for many years before moving to Florida and then finally making it to Kerrville, TX in 1998. He was a 53 year member of the Jackson County Indiana Masonic Lodge and the past Master of two different lodges, and a member of the Scottish Rite.Paul Burke Aikman was a good man that loved his family and country and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.He was preceded in death by his father Paul A. Aikman. And by his son Paul Douglas Aikman. He is survived by his mother Helen Clouse of Bloomington, IN,wife Ramona E. Aikman of Kerrville, TX daughter, Linda K. Miller of Elgin, TX son, Teddy B.Aikman of Carrollton, TX daughter, Rebecca E. Aikman of Long Island, NY son, Richard A. Aikman of Kerrville, TX son, Charles W. Aikman of Bloomington, IN five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. August 7, 2006 at the Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Ligon officiating and Masonic Rites courtesy of Masonic Lodge 697 A.F. A.M.
