Patricia Anne Hutchins, age 87, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015. Mrs. Hutchins was born in Waterloo, Iowa. Patricia attended schools there and matriculated at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa in 1945 and graduated in 1949 with a BA in Applied Arts. Patricia attended graduate school at Iowa State University as well. Mrs. Hutchins worked as a residential and home designer in 1949 and 1950 with Younkers, Inc. in Des Moines, Iowa.
Patricia married Lt. John S. Hutchins, a military officer in the Army Corps of Engineers in April of 1950, and their marriage lasted until 2010 when John passed away. John Hutchins retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1970. Pat and John had three sons and lived in Japan for two years, Alaska for three years, West Germany for three years, and lived within military bases in Washington State, Missouri and Texas.
Patricia was a college instructor at Schreiner University, in the 1980's and 1990's, teaching drawing, oil painting and other classes. She was a founder and active member in the Johnson Creek Press and served as a director of the Hill Country Arts Foundation.
Patricia is survived by three sons, John, Donovan and Lincoln, grandsons Nathan and Christopher, and one great-grandchild.
Celebration of life services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2015 at St. Peters Episcopal Church with Father Tom Murray III officiating. The committal services will be held at 2:00 p.m. in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX. The family will greet their friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 in the Main Chapel at Kerrville Funeral Home.
