Patricia Laverne Henry, 71, of Ingram, TX passed away November 17, 2004 at her residence.Patricia Laverne Main Henry was born on April 11, 1933, in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Nathan C. Main and Anna Gertrude Smith Main. She attended grade school, intermediate school and high school in Ponca City. She received formal training in dance and music during that time.Upon graduation she was employed by Broduss Golf Insurance Company until her marriage to Ronald G. Henry on May 24, 1953. While Ron attended Oklahoma State University, Laverne was the secretary for Professor Thuison, head of the Industrial Engineering Department at OSU.In subsequent years Laverne was a homemaker, raising three wonderful children Ronald Gene Henry, Jr. of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Cynthia Ann Henry of Bedford, Texas and Scott Glen Henry of San Antonio, Texas. Her knack for organization helped to establish family households on twelve different occasions, including one in Tokyo, Japan.Laverne was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kerrville. She was also a charter member of the Bayway Christian Church of Baytown, Texas and the Northwest Christian Church in Houston, Texas. She participated in many church activities, including teaching childrens Sunday School. Laverne gave of herself in many ways fundraising for charities, volunteering in local grade schools and hospitals, and acting as a Girl Scout Leader.Laverne loved to put her creative abilities to use in sewing projects, dollmaking and decorating her homes. She also adored dancing. She and Ron took many turns around the dance floor through the years and Laverne always stopped whatever she was doing when an Elvis song was played.A smile and friendly manner meant that Laverne never met a stranger. She had a deep love for all children and young adults, frequently counseling and guiding them through difficult times. She even became Mom Henry to some. When Laverne made a friend, she made a friend for life.For over 51 years Laverne was a cherished wife to Ron. Her constant love and support of him could not be matched.She is survived by her husband, three children, four grandchildren and a brother, Chester R. Main of Arizona.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your favorite charity.Graveside services will be 2:00PM, Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at the Garden of Memories Cemetery with Rev. Phillip Briggs officiating. ation will be 68:00PM, Monday, November 22, 2004 at Kerrville Funeral Home.
