Patricia Beaty

Patricia Lee Beaty, 68, entered into rest March 10, 2004 at a hospital in Kerrville, Texas.Pat was born in Los Angeles, CA on March 15, 1935 to Floyd and Jessie Bowles. As a young girl she moved to Portland, Oregon where she attended school. After graduating high school, she worked at a local insurance company. Pat went on to receive her two year degree from Graceland College in Lamoni. It was during these years that she met her future husband, Al Beaty. After college, Pat worked at Farm Bureau and married Al in 1960. For the next six years, both Pat and Al attended night school at Drake University while continuing to work fulltime. In 1972, Pat opened her own womens clothing store The Clothes Chute with shops in Des Moines, Lamoni, and Clear Lake. By 1980, she was ready for a new challenge and at age 45, attended Drake Law School where she continued to make the Deans List and was published in the Law Review. Upon earning her law degree, Pat worked in the trust department at Bankers Trust for a short time before joining Al at his insurance agency where they continued to work together until her death. Pat and Al traveled together and with their family to many places around the globe. They divided their time in recent years between their home in Des Moines and their second home in Kerrville, Texas. Pat was a past member of the Iowa State Bar Association. In addition to travel, Pat enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and was learning to play the organ.She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Jessie Bowles.Survivors include her husband, Alfred Beaty, Daughters, Kimberly Hopkins and Lisa Beaty, Granddaughters, Megan and Emma Hopkins, Sisters, Marilyn Trotter and Kathy Crummer, MotherInLaw, Erma Beaty, SonInLaw, Benjamin Hopkins, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Memorials may be made to Planned Parenthood of Greater Iowa, Patricia L. Beaty Memorial Fund at Graceland College, or the Younker Outpatient Rehab Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center,
