ENCINO, CA Otilia Perez Gonzales passed from this life at her residence in Encino, CA on October 2, 2012. She was born in Monterrey, Mexico on July 10, 1921 to Manuel Perez and Estefana Villanueva.

As a very young child, her family moved to Mercedes, TX. She always loved school and completed Mercedes High School in 1941. She married Rojelio Gonzales in 1942 and had 2 children, Esperanza Espie and Rojelio Jr. Roy. In 1948 she contracted tuberculosis, and was treated at a state hospital in Mission, TX. After her recovery, she began working as a nursing assistant in that same facility. In 1952, the hospital and its employees moved to Kerrville. She also worked as a nursing assistant at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1986. Otilia, quotTilaquot as she was affectionately called, remained a Kerrville resident until 4 years ago when she went to stay with her daughter in California because of health reasons. She is remembered as being a hard worker, for her beautiful and exquisite crocheting, and other hand work.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her 2 children grandchildren, Jamie, Robert and Edwardo Gonzales, Anna and Elliot Gray greatgrandchildren, James Gonzales and Alexander Smith, and her dear sister, Beatriz Herrera.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home on Sunday October 7, 2012 at 7:00 PM.

Funeral services will be held in the Main Chapel of Kerrville Funeral Home on Monday, October 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM, immediately followed with interment at Garden of Memories, Kerrville, TX.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kerrville Funeral Home.
